As I said before, buying a new musical instrument is an investment. There are so many brands out there to choose from that vary in price from under $100 all the way up to tens of thousands of dollars.

It is no easy task, but I highly recommend before you ever make a purchase on any instrument, especially a bass guitar, first go in person to a local music store, and test it out for yourself. Musical instruments are all about personal preference, and what someone else might love, you might hate; never buy one online without at least holding the brand at a store.

That being said, I do not fully recommend the Dean Edge Mahogany Electric Bass. Yes, it is a great guitar for a beginner player; I’ll give it that. It has a great look indeed and is at an incredibly affordable price.

However, I do sometimes think for a first bass guitar, you should pay a bit more for a higher-end bass. This is because they last longer and you will have to do less work maintaining it. With the Dean Edge, I found I really had to maintain the bass depending on the time of year.

Wood bends, depending on humidity, and I am very thankful that I live near a music store, and the employees were able to help me out. I would recommend you to look into better quality basses, such as Fenders, to make your final choice.
